Updated Nagios Monitoring

For the last month, we have been setting up Nagios to monitor our servers, Wi-Fi hotspots, websites and internal network.

It would appear after 5 years in operation that we have plenty of servers and services to worry about but Nagios makes this all very simple. It doesn’t however totally eliminate our custom built Hotspot Management System – it’s more of a complementary visual aid.

This morning we’ve finally got round to plugging in the 40 inch LCD screen so we can all see status reports.

So far so good.

Now I’m playing with SNMP to monitor traffic, load etc on the critial servers. Found this simple tutorial about getting it all set up. Now all I have to do is figure out what to actually monitor…
